I do a base paint of the regular colors then an all over wash (made with Future and bunch of dark inks; a 'dip', really) then matte varnish. Then about a three stage, layered drybrush of the main model color, the darkest shade from the base's colors, then graduate to the lightest shade from the base.

Nicely done! I've painted a bunch of Lee/Grants for my DR army. They're nice but this model has some really subtle shading. How'd you do it?
