Look!! A Shiny New Toy!!!

The title above would usually mean new miniatures that I don't have time to paint. Usually.

However, this time it means something else. And that is:

http://webogre.wordpress.com/

This might mean a new hideout for the Webogre, but it is only currently in the test phase. I will probably post to both for a month or so. After that I should make an annoucement about which way I've decided.

My first thoughts are that I have a lot more flexibility in how I arrange some things and in how I can make them appear on the page. On the con side, this flexibility means a little more complexity. But nothing too overblown that only a code-monkey could understand. (Sorry for the code-monkey reference Mike and any other code-monkeys.) (It comes from a router-monkey; it could be worse and come from a Windows-server-monkey...)

So. I'll say goodbye for now and drop me a line on what yo think of the new blog.

It's Been Awhile...

No, really. Almost two weeks. Whew. Well the main reason is that I was trying to get 1352 StuG Abteilung done in time for the tournament that was on the 15th.

If you look to the left at The Pipeline you should notice they are not marked as done. There is much progress though. But, honestly, I sat down at the paint table on Wednesday evening and just realized that I wasn't going to have all of the StuG's done to the standard of the other three I already have and I wasn't going to do that.

You see, I made something of a commitment awhile ago that I wasn't going to field anything unless it was painted. Especially in a competition. This has been a little hard to accomplish as I am not very fast when it comes to painting. I am getting somewhat better as the 10.5 Howitzers that there is a photo of below I got painted in about 4 days not counting getting them based and primed. That is very quick for me.

Also below is the Secret Project - A Tiger II!

This is the old model; my new one has a concave hull that needs to be replaced.

Hopefully, I can get the StuG's done soon so it doesn't take me 2 weeks to post again.

My secret is out...

End of a lovely three day weekend and was perusing 'Blogland', as Dave Woodward refers to it, and discoverd that my plot to obtain the much-touted and highly secretive Musketeer Miniatures Ghulams has been outed by a somewhat overzealous minion. I shall have to ponder what to do with this unexpected turn of events. Do I continue to have Bob keep Mike captive and wait for the ghulams? What about Bill? Should he live to sculpt another pirate or more saxons? (Those saxons are very lovely...) Am I hungry? Is it time for lunch? Do I attempt to sweep the whole thing under the rug and paint up my Stug company?

Many questions are asked and a couple deserve answers. I am hungry and the Stugs are based and are only in need of primer.

Mwa Ha Ha!

The Story So Far...

Well, as I am gearing up to get some of my table cleared off, I thought I would give a show of the force that has only appeared as bits and pieces.
The first shot is of the army on the move. This is around 1500-odd points depending on whether I make it mid-war or late war. I think in mid-war I have to drop the Stugs as they are quite pricey.

I haven't painted much in the last couple of days as I get back into the swing of real work. I had some time set aside last night but was 'torpedoed' (Get it, Mike?) by a problem called in from work. Earlier in the week I had finished up prepping most of the Sherman company that should see some paint here shortly. The rest of the week was spent getting the daughter back into the swing of school and general assisting with homework.

With a three-day weekend coming up, I hope I can get the rest of the Shermans prepped so they can get primed. The secret project is coming along and, had it not been for getting interrupted last night, I probably would have had a pic in this post. Perhaps next time.
Also for next time is, finally, getting the pics up of the next batch of projects.
I'll end this entry with some closer shots of some of the cooler elements of my Aufklar army.

This first shot shows the armoured cars on the move backed up by Stugs, M/C mounted Auflkar, and Tiger, off in the distance.

Next are close ups of my Stugs and, what I like to call the 'Wehrmacht Rally Car Team', Sd Kfz 250/1's.

Back from Vacation

Howdy!
I'm back from my vacation. The photo from the previous post was taken by the missus our first night on the central Oregon coast.

Anyway, I got some good thinking in about where to go with current projects and adding projects...

I think my original thought about clearing off what's on my desk is sound. Part of the problem there is that some are only partially assembled or, in fact, purchased.
First off is numbered 1 thru 2a. With the exception of the Sherman company, they only amount to about 10 models or bases. Next will be the Normans. More about them in the next post plus photos.

What Next???

So. Now that I finished that little project, what do I do now?
Here you will see my paint table just before I finished the kubels. You should also see that I have made notes on those things that I have an interest in getting to next.
In all honesty, I would not mind tackling something besides FOW Germans or FOW at all. Though this is problematic as I would really like to get my Shermans done, especially the M4A1(76)'s as that would give me an entire Sherman company. And though they are not noted in the photo, it would be nice to get the Panthers done, too. The problem with both of these little projects is that both require assembling more models and getting them all to the same stage. I should probably finish up the Normans as they are so close. And they would, of course, need some mounted brethren to accompany them. (They are on the top right of the picture.)
There is also the problem of the projects that are not on the table at all, i.e. 1352 Stug Abteilung that I just got the 3.7 AA guns for (though I have not yet gotten in the order for the Opel Blitz trucks to make them portee...), or the Sd Kfz 251's to make the aufklarungs into regular panzergrenadiers, or let's not forget the armored panzerpioneer platoons that have already been assembled....I think we can see where this all going. Can't we Mike?
Oh, wait, there is that other secret project that is in the mail from sunny Canada as we speak.
Hmmmm.
I do have a break as I am on vacation for the next week and a half and will probably use that time for pondering the next move.
My inclination is to get some more stuff done that's already on the table so as to clear space. That is probably the prudent thing to do. Not that that has ever given me pause...

They're Done!!

Woo Hoo!!

Here are the last of current project:

I think the 'little fellas' came out quite nicely...
I'm going to try to get a pic of the whole army tomorrow in the daylight; the pics came out better this time around.

More Progress!

The lighting on the one was a bit dark but what can you do.
You should notice that I did a grey on the Famo. I did this as I haven't done any early war Germans and this was as good of an opportunity as I was going to get with everyone going gaga for late-war.
You will also notice on the edge of the photos my WIP kubels that are nearly done. Since this photo was taken I've gotten the highlights on the cars and I just need to get the passengers.
Once those are done, that will complete my original idea of getting a list together and finishing it.
Past that is a subject for another post.

The Grey Blobs (or German Infantry)

Here they are:

I think I showed these in a previous post. To me, ther is just something indistinct about them. The more I look at them, the more I think they need more highlight. I have to get my Resistant rooster platoon done as I did camo on them and I don't think they will be as 'blah'.

And, in retrospect, I need to re-think my lighting set up.

Oh, you should notice to the left a section entitled 'The Pipeline'. It will have a list of projects I have planned. I have to think of how to add pics to it???

The Pics

Regular Kfz 70 trucks.
Sd Kfz 10/5's- Spiffin' eh?

Astute readers will notice that only some of these models appeared in the previous photo. I realised I had the AA trucks partially finished so went with it. The kubels and other trucks are being slavishly worked on now, but I say any progress is still progress.

Also, I was trying to get them done for a tourney I ended up not playing in; ah well.

More as it becomes available. No, really. The Famo and Maultier only need details and the kubels are about to get a wash.

After these are done, I'll be doing a re-sort of my painting desk and only placing projects that are next in the pipeline. Of course that means I have to make the pipeline.

More on that later.

or Lack of Progress....

That's not entirely true. Pics forthcoming of some recent stuff. Though, honestly, I was hoping to get all of the stuff in the photo done within a week. It didn't happen. Real Life(TM) sometimes gets in the way. Pics this evening if I can get some shots.

Progress

So. I managed to touch all the minis in the photos over the weekend. The Kfz 70's got some highlights added. The Kubels all got their basecoat. And the Maultier and Famo got their tracks and tires and tarps. I may plough through the rest of the highlights on the Kfz 70's to get them done and get pics posted with their owners in the next day or two.

Painting Progress

Above is stuff I have had on my painting table for more than a month. I am not working on anything else until they are done. Probably....

Big Game Photos From Monday

So. Here are some pics of the Big Game Set up that the guys played Monday night. I say 'the guys' as no one told me they were doing a big game or I would have been there for sure to play. I even had my new boards ready to go. Jerks.
Anyway. I stuck around for a while to take some pics and shoot the breeze with some of the guys. It was a nice big board but it got slowed up a little as the beach landing was delayed for like three turns while the airborne got their jump in. When I left was about turn 7 and the airborne boys had just taken out a tiger that had come in from reserve.
I'm looking forward to the Operation Cobra book from Battlefront so we can do a big breakout game from there. Hmmmm, 2nd Armored Division!

Time to Focus

The above link is to someone I may have to emulate as we seem to share the same affliction.

You see, I seem to want to do numerous things with wargames figures. No, you at the back, I mean all the different periods that I like that I would like to play games with.

Coming soon: a List of painting projects that I aim to finish in a nice orderly fashion.
Above is a decent pic of some Panzer IV's on one of my new game boards.

Here are some pics of my alsmost finished beach board.

Please remember these were taken in the dark of night in my garage.

I don't know if I am yet convinced about the white for the waves...????

My wife didn't like it. We'll see.

Blogger Quirks Redux

OK. That seemed to work.

Better.

Good.

Just need to get some pics of the current stuff.

Blogger Quirks

For some reason only my first picture comes with a link to a bigger one...

Or at least it did in my last post..

Let me try another couple of pictures.

According to the preview, there is a link for both. Hhhhmmmmmm????

Try one more...

The preview works; let's try publishing.

Another Thought...

The boards you see here are going to be dual purpose. The main impetus for doing them was D-Day, Utah beach, etc. However, since some of the guys and I decided to go in with WAB Dark Ages, Crusades, etc. I can use it for Viking raids just as well.

That reminds me that I need to pick up some cork tiles and grass mat. Maybe Michaels will have the grass mat....

Busy, busy....

Just to show I'm not lazy (or a work-shy-fop, as they call it in Britain), here are some in progress pics of current projects.

It could be argued that maybe I need to focus on one thing at a time.

I was rooting around in an old trunk of gaming/terrain bits for some sand for my D-Day tables:

And I found an old mini-copy of Illuminati. I love this game. Next time Bob gets into town we'll have to give it a run through.

Back to the D-Day board; I also made some barbed wire bases and am planning on minefields and anti-tank ditches.:

There are some of the barbed wire pieces san paint.

Next up are my WAB Normans:

I'm having fun getting these painted, but I'm going to have to hold off for the rest of the month while I fininsh up the D-Day terrain.

Hopefully next time I'll have some of the terrain done.

Painting along...

Been busy painting and building terrain. No pics; maybe in a couple of days. Painting continues on GB Normans and, half-heartedly, on BF German AA half tracks. Terrain is a beach board plus an extra open board for the club campaign next month of D-Day. Also realised that I didn't have any proper fortifications for hold the line or any of the hit the beach missions. Started with barbed wire, moving on to minefields, shortly. Got to try a bunker or two, also.
I'll try to put up pics in the next couple of days.

Off we go...

OK. So I got the photo link figured (just use the html tag from Photobucket not the IMG tags like I use in the FOW forum.)

I've come up with a plan...

Always dangerous when I have a plan.
The idea is to get work done on my Mid-war Aufklar so that is finished and then take on the Forum 600-point army challenge. Though I'll be behind on that one, most likely.

Lists to follow.
